About Dr. Koshy
Dr. Ninan Koshy, MD, is a board-certified
general surgeon at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s.
He completed his medical education in
India, graduating in 1991 and General
Surgery residency (1994-2000) at
Mount Sinai St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center.
During this time he spent a year in
research and co-authored several papers.
Dr. Koshy was then appointed as an
attending in general surgery at
Mount Sinai St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center and
has been part of the faculty since then.
Trained in open bariatric surgery during his residency, Dr. Koshy
continued his interest in the field and in 2004 started performing
laparoscopic bariatric surgery as part of the bariatric team at
Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital.
Dr. Koshy is actively involved in the training of residents and the
bariatric fellow. He has collaborated with researchers from the
New York Obesity Research Center.
He was awarded the Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Resident
Achievement Award in his graduating class.
Dr. Koshy has an academic appointment at the Icahn School of
Medicine at Mount Sinai.
