TRANSPLANT ADMINISTRATOR
Barbara Hanley, BS MS Ed
Barbara Hanley has over 30 years of experience in the Kidney Transplant Division and has risen up the ranks from an office assistant, performing virtually every Allied job on the team. Barbara has been distinguished with accolades from numerous patients and has been honored as a humanitarian and spiritual influence for numerous families. She has been the honoree for the New York area Annual “Wholeness of Life Award” awarded by the HealthCare Chaplaincy.

Sherie Seff, LCSW
Sherie L. Seff, LCSW received her MA in Social Work from Fordham University31 yrs. after receiving her MA from New York University School of Education, Health, Nursing, Arts and Professions. Ms. Seff has extensive experience in the field of end stage renal disease and received her training in kidney transplant at The Rogosin Institute. In addition to her work at St. Luke’s she maintains a private psychotherapy practice in Manhattan specializing in chronic illness and eating disorders. Sherie came to St. Luke’s in 2008 and is honored to be a part of such a dynamic and passionate transplant team.
CLINICAL TRANSPLANT COORDINATORS
Madeline Cruz, RN, BSN
Madeline Cruz is a registered nurse who completed her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing at The College of New Rochelle in New York. She has worked as a nurse in various critical care settings since 2002. Previous transplant experience includes the role of staff nurse at NYU Medical Center caring for inpatient pre-operative and post-operative transplant patients. She joined the St. Luke’s Roosevelt Transplant Program in 2007 as a Clinical Transplant Coordinator and works with pre-operative and post-operative kidney transplant patients, as well as living donors. She is currently enrolled at The College of Mount Saint Vincent and anticipates graduation in May 2010 with a Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing Administration.
Jessica Hulen, RN, BSN
Jessica Hulen is a registered nurse who completed her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing at the University of Missouri, Sinclair School of Nursing in Columbia, Missouri. Upon obtaining her degree in 1997, she worked in private and university hospitals in the Columbia, Missouri area. She came to New York City in 2003 and worked in several area hospitals, coming to St. Luke’s Roosevelt in 2006. In 2008, after gaining experience as a clinical Transplant Nurse, she was recruited and accepted the position of Clinical Transplant Coordinator with the St. Luke’s Roosevelt Transplant Program. Jessica specializes in all phases of transplant preparedness and post-op follow up.
TRANSPLANT FINANCIAL COORDINATOR
Janet Lee
Janet Lee comes to the Transplant Department’s financial position with 22 years experience in St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. During her time with the hospital, Janet has worked in various capacities. Her work with the Transplant patients is a new growth experience and has opened a new venue for her. As part of the transplant team she is the “go to” person for patients with financial questions.
Her goal is to personalize each patient’s financial experience with clarification and understanding for the patients so they can maintain all current appropriate insurance coverage.
Her kindness and expertise make her an asset to the department.
TRANSPLANT DIETICIAN
Shara Lazar, RD
Shara Lazar is Registered Dietitian and joined the Renal Transplant Program in 2009. Shara graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Family Studies. She continued her education at C.W. Post and received a second B.S. in Nutrition Science.
Shara has spent the past twelve years dedicated to renal patients both introducing and educating them about disease management. Since the renal diet is a vital part of the protocol; she provides counseling and support to help patients better understand their dietary allowances and restrictions. Her experience as a renal dietitian allows her to work with patients in different stages of kidney failure to better understand the implications of their illness. Her goal is to personalize each patient’s regimen and to present the best way for our patients to maintain optimal health.
Shara is also passionate about weight loss, health and wellness. She remains active in the study and treatment of obesity. Here, she works with the interdisciplinary team to help patients meet exercise fitness and wellness goals.
