From the Doctor

Dr. Kini is the Vice Chair of Department of Surgery at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West. He is the Chief of the Division of Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery of Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital. He is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine. He is also the Director of the Bariatric Fellowship Program at Mount Sinai St. Luke's.

After training in general surgery in the United Kingdom, he went on to do a Laparoendoscopic Fellowship at the Welsh Institute of Minimal Access Therapy in Cardiff, UK. Dr. Kini is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) of England, Edinburgh, and Glasgow. He also completed a laparoscopic research fellowship in Mount Sinai Medical Center and a laparoscopic clinical fellowship in New York Medical College. Dr. Kini then joined the faculty of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in the Division of Laparoscopic Surgery at Mount Sinai in 2004.

Dr. Kini is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He also serves on the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) Resident Committee and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Research Committee. Dr. Kini has been performing advanced laparoscopic surgery since 1995. His practice is focused primarily on advanced laparoscopic bariatric surgery, anti-reflux surgery and advanced laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Kini is currently performing research in several areas of minimally invasive bariatric procedures and anti-reflux surgery. Dr. Kini is also currently pursuing his PhD in Clinical Research at Mount Sinai Hospital.
